VPLT International Audio Training Courses – 3D Audio was held during 2017 Shanghai International Professional Lighting Exhibition. Mr. Jeff Levison, Senior Technology R&D Manager of Full Dimension, made a lecture on “Bringing the Cinema and Concert Hall Experience to Home Theatre” in Shanghai New International Expo Center.

 

The home theatre and the live venue – the cinema, concert hall, arena, etc. – are now brought closer together with the advent of technology from FDM. With advanced 3D holographic audio processing, the acoustical experiences of distance, reverberation, and presence can transform the home theatre into any of these places at the push of a button. Jeff Levison, Senior Technology R&D Manager at Full Dimension, led us through an explanation of the live venue experience and how it could be transported into a home theatre. Mr. Levison explained how our senses work together to explain to our minds the world around them, the processing that was needed in the home to recreate the emotion of such experiences, and then illustrated them further with a tutorial on the filming and sound recording of a short documentary trailer designed to bring the abstract world of the senses to modern entertainment systems.
