On Dec. 8th, Simon Franglen, a world famous musician and advanced sound engineer visited Vancouver Film Institute of Shanghai University and gave students a lively and attractive lectures about the soundtrack related music making, sharing his music for several Hollywood blockbusters engineering documents. After the lecture, Simon Franglen also answered questions from students in detail with a vivid interaction effect, which benefited the participants a lot. Simon Franglen is a composer and musician, best known for his Golden Globe nominated work on Avatar (2009) and Grammy winning work on Titanic (1997). His credits include four of the top grossing films of all time and six of the top selling albums (Wikipedia). He recently finishing scoring The Magnificent Seven (2016) and has composed music for Terrence Malick's Voyage of Time: Life's Journey (2016). He received a Grammy Award for Record of the Year for his production on the smash hit "My Heart Will Go On" from James Cameron's Titanic, and received Golden Globe, Grammy Award and World Soundtrack Award nominations for co-writing and producing the theme song "I See You" from Cameron's Avatar. With over four hundred music credits, Franglen has worked with an array of pop, RnB and classical artists including Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones, Celine Dion, Luciano Pavarotti and Madonna. |
