Movie theatre includes cinema, opera house, concert hall, theatre and so on.
Movie theatre has its unique acoustic features which are quite different from other architectures.
The difference is, first of all, that the sound source of the ordinary cinemas is fixed, which is because the speakers of the cinemas always set behind or on the side walls.
Second difference is that is position of the sound resource is relative higher. The tend to be set above the two-third the height of screen which is rather advantageous to the audience because the sound energy could be reflected to every direction of the auditorium.
Thirdly, the volume could be adjusted according to the corresponding needs.
Fourthly, the reverberation time is comparatively shorter from other architectures to add the clearness of dialogues in the movie. The best reverberation time has not been domestically unified yet. The frequency characteristics of reverberation time are prescribed to be straight and flat, but in practical application, the reverberation time of low frequency is longer while that of high frequency is shorter. Those cinemas with stereo sound tend to have shorter reverberation time compared to those ordinary cinemas so as to enhance the sense of direction of the sound.
Siwei Music Engineering Design pay special attention to the environmental noise of the auditorium and the well-distribution of the sound field. Cinema should be treated in a way as same as the auditorium of other architecture of performing arts to avoid acoustic defects like echo, flutter echo, sound focusing, coupling effect etc.
