It was a great change for engineers of SWD to design the indoor acoustic field for the home theatre. And it was also one of the classic cases designed and constructed by SWD. The home theatre, located in a two-story underground, was very low. If standing in it, it’s so easy to touch the ceiling. Engineers from SWD improved the acoustic situation by professional sound field processing. Meanwhile, the sound field processing could restore the sound quality in a large degree and brought a much better sense of space.
As all walls of this villa were made of cement materials, interference of standing waves was very strong, which made the acoustic environment very bad. In addition to that, the basement’s space was very limited, so to partition it in golden seems to be impossible. Therefore, engineers from SWD processed the sound diffusion and absorption mainly by means of sound field asymmetry.
In this case, special acoustic design in crown wall was adopted and diffusers were used in large area. When installing them, engineers took a special design to maximize diffusers’ function, widen the frequency response curve and minimize standing waves along axes. Besides, engineers of SWD used sound absorber with different volume-weights to purify the sounds of different frequency bonds in order to offer a straighter frequency response curve.
